Maple? Did you say MAPLE? 
I HATE turning maple!
I have about 15-20 pounds of highly figured maple blanks......I have birdseye, flame, cloud, etc.......I've made two calls from it and that is two more than I ever want to make! It takes 3-5 times as long to make a call from maple......it has too many hard and soft spots in it to turn well! Did I mention I HATE turning maple? ;D
