Dang! I should've figured somebody would ask that question. On the Del Rio cat... She and I squeezed into a metal sided stand 12' off the ground with no top and only 24" high walls. It was only 36" x 36" so it's a good thing we were marrried. (We would have been in some countries when we got out of there.) Everything was going wrong. We were making too much noise. The metal stand was creaking and clanking. I couldn't reach the volume control after I started the caller. It was too loud. I was in a world class bind with my legs folded up under me. Then she said "There he is!" I shot him. He ran off. Patsy tracked that dang cat for two hours. Dim blood trail. That one is "OURS". The one with the rabbit is mine. I saw him and shot him, no help. I'm stickin to that story. The one going after the quail, well she saw him and was holding the light for me. The coyote I lip squeaked and shot him here at the house. He was a pet dog eater.

Hey Bob,
We are going to Llano in a couple of weeks to pick up a bobcat she shot last Thanksgiving day. It is the biggest one so far(25 lbs.) It's a big Tom. We weigh and take pretty detailed measurements of all the cats we take. I've found there's a lot of exageration when it comes to people sizing cats. Hers was a truly big one. Also picking up another average size cat and three gray foxes. I'll post pics when we get em here.

Thanks CoonDawg,
The young man that does these for me does all of his mounts like a work of art. His prices are reasonable too.

I really like those pedestal mounts! Thanks for putting them up! Are you an outfitter or a taxidermist? Your first shot is either at a show, a competition, or you have a REALLY big trophy room...... Bob

Thanks Bobcat. Yes I tinker in taxidermy, but mostly just for family. Believe it or not the pedastal mount was my 2nd deer to ever mount and everyone told me not to try a pedastal because it was to hard, but I wouldn't listen.

;)Hey Bobcat... you didn't tell me your buddy Ron Dickey is also a guide! He had several B&C whitetails in the local Robert Lee paper. I think one was a 168 B&C! if i get the one I saw Saturday at our lease, I'll definitely look him up for taxidermy!

Yup, he is the guide that had the whitetail hunt I posted in the Hunts Available forum a while back. It is on a large low fenced ranch in the panhandle. You can ONLY take a 140 B&C animal or better and they have had 100% success on these hunts. They limit the number of hunters each year. That hunt was $3000 including your room, board, and all fees except your license. When you compare that to the south Texas trophy hunts it is very reasonable........still out of my league though. He also guides pronghorn, elk, and mule deer hunts. You should go meet him next time you are up at the lease. Tell him I said to say "Hey"!
Good Hunting,
Bob

What do mounts run down in your guy's neck of the woods? I really can't wait to get down there and get some critters mounted. I am also very intrested in learning how to do taxidermy. Any of you guys bought any of the kits in the hunting mags?
