Not yet, but with these cool nights and mornings I'm starting to think about it. Moving some cows early this morning I saw lots of fresh tracks. Fall works are starting way early due to dry weather so around mid October I can get a little more serious about it.

......maybe you can call up a few next weekend when your pronghorn hunters get their bucks on the ground.
Good Hunting,
Bob

jdickey, Are you going to do some calling near Robert Lee during deer season? While skinning out out and quartering some south Texas hogs a couple of years ago, we had a Road Runner hanging out near the hoist. We would toss him scraps and he would run in and gulp them down. To say the least, he had an amazing "capacity".........we wondered if he was all stomach!! Bob

I've been doing some calling when cool fronts come through lately. Getting record highs this last week though. I would rather be just starting now but we have a lot of fellas that hunt the stuff close to town very early, so I usually hit the local spots early to get a jump on em'. LOL. By the time deer season is over I usually start driving a ways for my calling. Hard to believe how much more competition there is out there compared to even just 10 years ago. Take care, Curt

Hey Bobcat... Yeah, we're going down this next weekend since we were not able to go this weekend. Plan on doing some calling and bow hunt deer. Something must be in the neighborhood though, because of all our jackrabbits have been hiding on the last trip! I got this picture of the roadrunner last trip. There was a hen and this rooster that were making that little cackle noise, like they had some babies near by. Then they disappeared in the brush and started making that hoot call of theirs. They are fun to watch!

I got to do some calling the first week of Oct and the third week of Oct. Up between Seymour and Vernon. Hot both times but had good luck the first hunt. Second hunt was to busy wiping the sweat out of my eyes. Getting colder now, plan on getting serious real soon!

Went this morning and called up two doubles out of six stands. got 1 set of doubles on the same strand that you took that bobcat on, bobcat. got 1 of the other pair off that bluff where you were successful that time. Some stands just always seem to pay off. Real heavy coats for this time of year and area.

Hey Terry, Congrats on the hunt!! You have got some great calling area in that part of Oklahoma! I love that bluff. It is fun to be able to watch them come in. Have you been using your hand calls? Good Hunting, Bob Here is that bobcat: Here is the "bluff" coyote:

Actually I have been using hand calls exclusively for the last couple of years. Me and Heath are going to hit a few in the morning. He is getting pretty salty with the shots. That boy had rather hunt than do anything.

Hey Terry,
I knew ol' Heath was going to turn in to a predator hunting machine!! I am glad you are getting out to call together. Is he getting ready for deer gun season?
Good Hunting,
Bob
