I talked to a lady that wants me to hunt her place. The place borders the grasslands up by Decatur. She raises goats and she has lost I think she said about 15 goats and 10 ten cats. But this is what I want some input on. I haven't been there yet to scout yet but she is saying this is a 130 lb bobcat doing this. I am leaning more to a lion but she says it has no tail. The biggest bobcat I have ever seen in my life has been 55 lbs and it was a well fed pet. Granted I am going on what this lady has told me. She told me the pads in the tracks she finds are about 1 1/2" in diameter. Not the paw just the pads. I asked her how she wanted me to hunt this and she told me on the back porch by spotlight because its coming up by her barns at night. I am also thinking there is more than one. She lost 15 goats and some of these were big goats. I didn't know they ate that much in such a short amount of time along with 10 cats. Now the question which one do you guys lean more towards the bobcat or mountain lion? I would like to have you guys input. ;D I will help her out with her problem. ;D Joe

:-*I bet it's one of 'em Wampus Cats or maybe her crazy neighbor dressed like a Wampus Cat. Either way, there's only one real way to find out. If it tastes like chicken, it's probably a "bobtailed wampus mountain cat-lion."

tj5, I have learned not to pay much attention to what women tell me they see. One of my neighbor's wife reported seeing a huge black cougar several times. One day she got a photo of it. Comparing the size of the cat to a tree in the photo, I convinced her it was a ten pound black house cat. Dee came out to my shop in April a few years ago, and she told me there was a huge bear on the hill behind our house. She said it was going around in circles and acting really crazy. When I went to look at "her" bear, it was a turkey gobbler with its tail all fanned out and doing its mating dance. A 130 pound lion would be a pretty good size cat for Texas. A large bobcat could easily kill a goat. This cat weighed 170 pounds. Its heel pad was about 2 3/4". The toe pads are about the size of my finger tips. I would not even speculate what this lady is seeing until I checked it out for myself. Bob

I wonder if this lady is some kin to Mikie, he has a way telling a story also. He gets pounds and ounces mixed up like he does yards and inches.
