One the problems with calling at different times of the year is being able to see your quarry above the ground cover and grass.....especially for those of us that are more vertically challenged! I take a lightweight fold-up stool with me on most stands. I camo painted the legs. It allows me to see what is coming in to my call much better and lets me use my knee as a rifle rest. Here is the stool in action in New Mexico...... Good Hunting, Bob

Bob: I do the same thing for turkey hunting. I buy the low sitting foldup beach chairs and camo them up.
Some days, I sit for several hours and the padded seat with my turkey vest (plus the natural padding on my butt that has come from too much fried chicken and french fries and biscuits and cheese burgers and pizza and beer and ......) just doesn't get it - the old posterior still gets awful sore.
The foldup beach chair has my butt about two or three inches off the ground, and I can rest my gun across the arms of the chair or on a bipod.
Still not the perfect situation, but I am getting closer....

I got my stool from K-mart. It is camo and has three legged tripod design. Very small and compact for less then 10.00 Bought a couple for friends that hunt with me and it was one of the best purchases ever for yote hunting. Last time I was at K-mart they still had them

:)Hey Bob.... was that your stool in that middle picture? It looks rather uncomfortable.... Just a suggestion, Sam's Club has a folding camp chair complete with casethat has a shoulder strap, for about $20.00. While it's not camoflaged, you can get dark green! I've used it a couple of times during dove and turkey seasons, and worked well.! When you're done, just fold it up and put it back in the case!

JD, Yeah.......that one is tough! I own a few of those camp chairs. When I am predator hunting I really prefer the lean and mean approach. You are moving from stand to stand every 20 minutes or so, and many times you are walking. The stools are light, easy to carry, and don't stand out. More importantly, they are easy to shoot a rifle from allowing you to use your knee as a rest. They also allow you more freedom of movement. Remember one of the cardinal rules of calling coyotes.......there are no rules......they are smart and can come in from all directions. Good Hunting, Bob

Unlike Texas, New Mexico has a vast amount of State and Federal BLM and National Forest land that you can hunt. I try to get over there at least twice a year......maybe more now. The predator hunting here in Texas is as good as it gets, but it is harder to line up land to call on. Get yourself a "New Mexico Atlas & Gazetteer". It has topo maps with the State and Federal land marked in it. The only bad news is that all of the coyotes have been eliminated in New Mexico, so I wouldn't bother going. ;D Good Hunting, Bob
