Those are starting loads. I use more then that in some rifles, but for safety I would start there and work up. I really like the nosler book for reloading. I prefer a load that is as close to case capacity without being compressed. That is how I pick a starting podwer, that or I see what all is on the shelf to save a trip to the store ;D

Hey Javelina,
It is about time you popped in here!! ;D Welcome to the Posse!! Are you building any new rifles currently??
Again, I agree with Javelina.......I had very good success with the H-4831SC. It meters much easier.
Good Hunting,
Bob

Been playing around with a few loads but nothing serious....
Anybody want a tack driving 130 grain Nosler Partition load for a 270 try 62 grains of H1000 in a Win. case and seat the bullet back 0.040 from the lands...

Javelina,
Congrats on the speed-goat! When you get some time go to the big game forum and post a photo and some details of your hunt. I am going to hunt pronghorn in New Mexico this year with BozoWise and Dead Eye over near Hobbs. Just before that I am heading to Washington State for a black bear hunt I have been planning for 2 years with BobR.

well yesterday I finally got the chance for some rangetime with the little 270 that I recently traided for(its a Browning FN commercial m98 Safari Grade according to my gunsmith was made in about 1959 great looking wood and 98%blueing)got the scope mounted and boresighted and built some handloads friday night,,,for sightin I bought some winchester 130gr silvertip(the regular st not ballistic silvertip)after adjusting the scope to where it was hitting in the bullseye the first 3 shot group with commercial ammo went 3 1/2 in at 100yds(oh crap the bbl is shot out!!)so now its time to try the handloads which consist of,starting at 56gr re19 and plain ole green box sierra 130gr flat base, this load went app1 3/4(ok maybe it can be salvaged)fired 5 and ran a few patchs thru it,then tried the second load 56.5gr re19 same bullet with groups tightening up to 3/4 to 1in(repeated cleaning after 5 shots it must be very smooth inside cause it only took 5 patches with breakfree for the last patch to come out clean)then tried the last load which is 57.5gr re19 with the same bullet,,,,the first 3 giong into the same hole!!4th and 5th shots opening the group to 3/8in!!this performance was repeated through the box of 20rds,I dont know what the vel is cause I forgot to take the coronograph but alliants book lists it at 3100 and max load"WOW its a keeper",now to substitute the sierra with noslers 130 gr partition and this old girl will hunt
