I'm pretty new to hog hunting and have been actively trying to figure these rascals out for about 6 months now. I have a ranch/farm SW of Abilene that has some pretty big hogs on it. My wife, sons and I are active hunters. I've deer and bird hunted all my life. I have found hog hunting to be extremely enjoyable and in fact took my first hog two weeks ago. Still pretty stoked about it. We're all going tomorrow night and hopefully will get another one or two. Here's some pictures of the boar I took. In the field he doesn't look very big.. . This gives a little perspective. It was just me and the missus and we couldn't load him in the pickup. Tractor worked out pretty handy that evening. . He weighed 275 lbs. and made some mighty good sausage . Again, glad to have found this site and have enjoyed reading some of the stories. I think I may recognize a couple of you from TexasBoars.com. Hopefully I can add a few of my own in the near future.

Yeah captkb, we live near Tuscola and the ranch is near Bradshaw. I'd love to talk hog hunting with you. I'm pretty new to it and sure am enjoying the vertical learning curve.

Hey Paul,
That is a great hog! Big time congrats........nothing like starting out with a trophy boar!
Good Hunting,
Bob
ps-If you get a chance would you please resize your photos to fit the page before posting them-it really slows the board down.......thanks. Now-go get some more hogs!! ;D

Thanks for the welcome guys...
Bobcat, I resized the pics and lowered the resolution as well. They are now at 27 to 29K each. Is that OK? If so, I'll leave them. If not, I can easily remove them.
Thanks. Paul

Last year we had a small lease west of Bradshaw that we took several hogs off of. Once the holidays are over with and things get back somewhere close to normal I will give ya a shout and we can talk hog hunting.

Can we say HOG HUNT at Pauls place ;D BTW welcome to our family and that is a nice hog. See Sarge, there are hogs in Texas some smaller and some a whole lot bigger. Not sure what the record is but have seen pictures of a 1000+ pounder Does anyone know what the largest in Texas is?

Welcome to the board, Paul. Nice photos!
I was having dinner with a rancher from Cuero this past spring that has spotted one in the 850 pound range.........
Trying to get on her ranch to take it down.

An 850 pound wild hog?? My gosh I wonder how much killing that would need by one of the dog/knife hog hunting people?

Thanks again for the fine welcome, folks. I appreciate it.
I hunted Friday evening but with no success. Saturday and Sunday were spent in East Texas doing Christmas with family.
Captkb, soon as things settle down after the holidays, PM me. Maybe we can jaw on the phone or meet for a cup of coffee and exchange whoppers. ;D

Sounds like a plan, if we can change that coffee to a Dr. Pepper. ;D ;D
