I have been predator hunting enough times to know that I need a lot more knowledge to be accomplished at this, but also know that this is a durn fun hunt that is challenging and can be done year round at most any place in Texas.
So here is the question: If you had, say, $300 or $400, which electronic call would you buy and why? (Guess that's 2 questions!)
Thanks.......

ICMCumin, Foxpro has one model on sale without remote control that you can buy for a little less than the price you mention. I believe that the Burnham Compu-caller can still be had for 200.00 or so also.

A Loudmouth caller for 350.00? Now that puts a little different slant on this matter. If I had 400.00 and was looking for best electronic caller for my money, what would I do? Float a loan from Bob C. for about 140.00 and buy a new Loudmouth with remote control.

Do you have a trade-up program in order to get all the riff-raff back in the closets where they belong?
I'm working on an Electric Rhino that may give you a run for the money, but after Higgins introduces me to the Loudmouth tomorrow, I just may scrap the ER idea alltogether.
Since I am somewhat familiar with cameras, I will make sure that Cecil B. De'Higgins knows where the on/off switch is to his camera and will also make sure I discard his lens cap before we leave town.

Jay, Please do not look into business end of the lens after you remove said lens cap. If the Cam corder happens to be in record mode and sees your ugly mug--------- Goodbye Cam Corder. I hope you guys get some good video footage. You know that I am always here to help out when ya need me.

Ain't it amazing how a perfectly decent initial post can degenerate so quickly. Could someone fill me in on the whole story now that you've whetted my appetite. What's that old expression - "if you don't have anything nice to say about someone, sit next to me..." ;D

ICMC, You can go ahead and blame me.
Guys like Cronk just can't stay out of things. Those d**n Monkey Ears of his keep flapping everytime the breeze kicks up.
Bob, I see you're still bragging about the size of your Rhino. Must be a Texican thing. You might show a photo of it and tell the story behind it. All of it. LOL
Higgins will attempt a review of the LM Caller. I'll be here to make sure it is accurate. This will relate to part of your question.
If time permits, we can also do something on the PreyMaster caller from HS (AKA Gerald Stewart).
If guys like "Calypso" and "Monkey Ears Cronk" can stay out of it, we may just get this back on track.
Hey ICMC. My mom lives in THE WOODLANDS too!

Let me say that I haven't heard an actual Loudmouth caller so I cannot attest as to the sound quality of the unit, but for my money I would go with the Western Rivers ""PREDATION" unit.
For me it boils down to the fact that the Loudmouth uses 30 second loops, while the Predation unit is a true MP3 player, which will allow you to record a calling sequence of quite a substancial length.
With a sound recorded at a standard 128k/44mhz rate you will use aout 1 meg of memory per minute. Being that the Predation unit has 32 megs of onboard memory you could possible record a sequence of 32 minutes duration. Adding a 128 meg memory card to the memory port you could possibly have 160 (128 + 32) minutes of sounds recorded. If your calling sequences are say 15 miutes in duration then you could have almost 11 different sounds on the unit to choose from.
Like I said though, for me it boils down to a personal preference. I just don't care for sound loops of any duration.
I have a Burnham "compucaller" which I would not reccomend to anyone. I also have a Dennis Kirk remote cd caller which has been a good unit, and I will continue to use from time to time, but for now my Western Rivers "predation" unit is the caller of choice since it has no moving parts.
Just my $.02

I'm sorry, I almost forget to tell you about our new model 38's. These units are now available. The price on these units will be around $179.95. These units are available in four different sound configurations. They are available in a deer/turkey model, a crow/snow geese model, a predator model, and a combo unit. You can still record your own sounds into these units with our PG-1 adapter, or send them in to us for reprogramming(20.00 for one or all sounds to be changed!) They also have the built in timer switch(60 second delay), and the external speaker jack, which will cut off the main speaker. with that feature, you can make it seem as if there are two different animals at two different locations. Please call me with any other questions. Our toll free no is listed on our website. Thanks again!
