A friend of mine shot an antelope a few weeks ago with a crossbow. Hit the lope in the side of the head and he didn't go right down. The lope tried to shake it off and ran pouring blood. They tailed the lope's blood for a few hours. A friend even got a picture of him clearing the bluff with a crossbow bolt sticking out of the side of his head. He went down on the other side of the bluff, but it took them forever to find him.

Getting close enough to bag a pronghorn with a crossbow is quite a feat! That is some picture! Bob

It is normally a great feat, but I have to admit that sometimes we have to bump them like cattle to get them out of our way. The lopes are thick on one of our ranches and the state of NM will only give us 3 permits per year to hunt them. We are in the processs of having a state count on them because they only provide the permits on land size and not actual counts at the current time.
