I read on another board this morning about hunting prairie dogs on the Cimmeron National grasslands In south west Kansas, Near Elkhart? Supposed to be like 108,175 acres out there, Has anyone heard of this before? One of the people on the board said he had been there many times and there were several towns of them to shoot?
I have tried and I'm still looking to find maybe a chamber of commerce there or someone to write to and find out if this is true or not? Just wondered if anyone on this board had heard of this place or been there?
You see! I always try and come to this board when I really want to know something!

I have heard of some folks hutning them on the Oklahoma side but I have a list of names that need some phone calls and a trip to the panhandle is in the near future! I have some names in Colorado so I may have to send for a map and drop by on the way. If you hear anything pass on the word.

OK, Heres the deal!
I wrote the kansas wildlife department and asked them about hunting Prairie dogs on the Cimarron National grasslands " Is it permissible to hunt them on this land? Are there any special permits required?".....They wrote back!!
" YES, YOU CAN HUNT THEM THERE. CONTACT THEM AT...###-###-####"
Not sure of the population? But there are campgrounds on the land also and this might be just the ticket to get in a little shooting with out spending too much money! ;D

Boy I'm glad you got something! I got jack, there is a campground that I can't remember the name but I'm thinking about a drive up that way when the weather starts to come around. I might see you up that way! If you don't mind let me know what they tell you about permits and where did you get the site for their website? I must have not held my mouth right when I did the search.
