As everybody knows, quite a few exotics are free ranging in Texas now. What areas have you seen free ranging game in? What did you see? A friend of mine shot an elk near Llano a couple of years ago

This is going to draw some smiles, but I heard there are "free ranging" monkeys near Three Rivers. As the story goes, some monkeys escaped from one of the research labs near San Antonio several years ago and migrated down to that area. How true it is I don't know , but that would make one fun hunt. Have also heard about ostriches near Bracketville and Mouflons at one of the state parks in S Texas.

Its probably been 4-5 yrs back there was a monkey killed by a hunter in Coleman Co. The only problem with it was the picture they put in the paper was of the hunter with only the head of the monkey. Made for an awful picture and caused alot of uproar with the public. This particular monkey had something like 4 inch teeth or tusks that could have shredded any human quickly. I don't recall what kind of monkey it was. Thats the only free ranging exotics I have heard of in this area.

There was quite a few birds let loose when the business bottomed out so don't be surprised, around San Antonio, Castroville up to Bandera.
Those escaped monkeys came from the SW Research Int and if I remember right there was about 10.
