Just wondering how many of you are dedicated Turkey hunters. I'm a fanatic...just wondering is there any of you addicted to that first gobble on a crisp spring morning? Ya know they can they can hear you think. ;D Just thank God they can't smell me.

Hey jdickey, yep, I'm a very active member on the NWTF web site....boy the sound is breath taking. I think I read on a few other post about you hunting in Robert Lee, I hunt down there atleast a few times a year, usualy for deer and dove, going to try out the turkey this spring. I hunt on the Brooks place just outside of RL on HWY 208 just north of RL.

Hey Shane ... we are on one of Judy Mays' ranches, west of R.L. on FM 2034. We are COVERED UP IN TURKEYS! I shot one opening day of deer seasonan 18 lb tom and I've seen several bigger ones. If there is such a thing as a MUY GRANDE turkey, we've got several 30 lb.. birds! It's like when they gobble it's GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE!

I've been known to hunt a big bird or two. Got a lease between Goliad and Cuero, right on Coletto Creek. The best of times for me......

Congrats Bob on a fine Bird....and yes that is some good eat'n. We all need to get together on a good spring time hunt. I have some friends coming over from Louisiana this spring and then in the spring of 05 got a couple of buds heading south out of Canada to hunt with me. Love them longbeards and sharp spurs. ;D

;Hey ICM.... does Cuero still have their turkey race? Should be coming up real soon! ;D I don't know, JD. I only go there in April / May now. But Cuero IS the home of the Fightin' Gobblers so they probably do! p.s. Good looking gobbler, Bob...... I miss Rob't Lee for a lot of things, but for the cheeseburgers?...... I don't think so....

;D ::)Doesn't look as though Bobcat has "missed" too many of those cheeseburgers himself.... We're going to R.L. the Friday after turkey day, and I'll bet we just might find a cheeseburger with Bobs name all over it! ;D

Hey big george... those aren't those Quaker turkeys are they? I hear that they're harder than heck to call in! What's the average size that you see?

I never herd them called that but thay are hard to call for some. now i meen that if your hunting them in texas on your own lease and thay are not called to very much it may not take much to call them in but P.A thay are hunted hard most of this state is open to all hunters you get a 2year old tom you know hes been called to and flushed a time or two yelp yelp ant going to do it. texas toms are much more predator smart pa toms are call smart i hunted toms in texas2 years ago on benavides ranch 2 days shot 13 1/2 and a 11 inch tom seen 43 turky that hunt very disapointed on the rio smartness here no baiting no stalking just calling my hunters get toms 2'' to 12'' from 8lb to 25lb averich tom is 16lb come to pa you need to be ready to hunt . and you can only hunt till 12;00 noon and only shoot toms. but dont fotget this you have a friend in P.A If ever stuck on a big tom or if i can help in any way just yelp at me big george

My first and best hunt, we got 3 turkeys by 2 pm. I'm on the right with a triple bearded turkey, about 28 inches of beard. I've taken a merriams in NM, and last year, we got blanked for 6 days of hunting, got close to a lot of birds, but passed on some jakes and some 2 year old birds that didnt' have the beard I was looking for. Also hunted public land easterns last year, you want to talk about some smart birds, those have PHD's! This year I've got several hunts lined up, and going to do some guiding on a corporate hunt. Still want to try and get the TX slam - Rio and an Eastern in the same year.
