... in going turkey hunting down near Cuero this spring? Say the second weekend of the season? I think I can set something up that is fairly economical if we get seven or eight hunters to go in together. Could probably hog hunt at night too........

:)Hey ICM... I'd join you faster than a sneeze thru a gnat nose, but the ONLY thing that my lease had plenty of ..... was turkeys. So, I'm planning on a "population reduction" this spring. Of course, the turkeys may take lessons from the deer and disappear when the spring season starts!

ICM, I would be up for it, have a couple of friends heading this way from Louisianna for the opener, but they will be heading back sometimes mid week......so count me in if you don't mind. Just let me know when, where, cost, and what I need to bring. Thanks for the offer.

Jim, any idea on the cost? Still counting my pennies..lol Am currently substitute teaching about 1/2 time, but should land a full time position soon. Have passed the alternative certification class and the needed Texas exam for special education.

We are still in the negotiating phase - will let you know when I find out.
I am trying to get Terry to waive the hog hunting fee and just charge for the turkey hunting and the lodging, but he hasn't bitten this yet. I also need several more hunters in order to sweeten the deal up for him and this hasn't happened as yet either.
If its just a few (no more than 3) of us, we can hunt my lease which is just down the road and there would be no kill fees, but we'd have to stay in a motel at a slightly higher cost.
Stay tuned - we've still got some time.......

Thanks for the response guys. We need to get a few more hunters in order to negotiate an optimal price per person.
Terry is a good guy and the hunting there is pretty durn good (the two turkeys in my photo came from that ranch three years ago. One of them had an 11 inch beard and 1 1/4 inch spurs).
Stay tuned. Will know something soon.

HUNTER Cuero is about 25 miles West of Victoria, Texas, which is about 130 miles or so SW of Houston. We'd be hunting in Goliad or DeWitt County.
