i just went out and bought about a dozen dove decoys before the season started and haven't had the need to use them as yet. Got them from Cabelas -were dirt cheap. I have turkey, duck and geese decoys, and know how to use them pretty well, but this is the first time I have had dove decoys. Do they work? And under what circumstances do you use them? How do you hang them to maximize their effectiveness? Thanks for the help.

;)We've used dove decoys for several years... the ones that are left! Had an elderly friend that woke up from a nap one afternoon and blasted the hell out of 3 of them! Put them on the top wire of fences... keep them about 10"-12" apart. Doves will always keep at least a wing spread distance apart. They also can be set up on the ground! Just what ever works!

......and, according to Jay Nistetter, make sure it is not a "hot" fence and you are not wet..... (see the: "Be carefull where you lean" thread in the Campfire forum...too funny ) Let us know how your decoys fair for you!! Good Hunting, Bob

Hey Bobcat - just read the "be careful" post a few minutes ago - too funny! A lot of us have electric fence stories, but that has to be one of the funniest ones I've heard. Hope to have at least one more dove hunt and will try the deacs and let everyone know how they did.
