Hey TD.
To start out with, I have never hunted with a 28.
Back in the days when I worked in corporate USA, I was at a quail ranch in S Georgia (near Statesboro) and was talking with one of the guides about shooting and the different bore sizes and esoteric stuff like that.
He seemed to know what he was talking about (and knew a lot more that I did - which ain't too hard) and one of the things I asked him about was the 28 guage.
He said it was a good quail gun - each year a bunch of Texas Oil guys came to the ranch and they all had 28 guage O/U's. He said they just didn't hardly miss with those guns - but when one of them did, the other guys would just jump all over his butt ...... (Having hunted with some of the other board members I can relate to that!) ;D
Anyway if it worked for them it ought to work for you and me ......
