This dove season started out real crappy for me this yr. To start with there wasn't too many birds flying and the ones that did fly...............well lets just say they are still real healthy fast flying birds the last I saw. Last weekend Kellyg and his family came out for some hog hunting and after the hunt Kelly remarked about all the dove he saw coming into one of the tanks. Seemed a little odd because of the rain showers we had recently. Well one of the guys went out this past Tuesday and said they were flying real good around the same tank. This evening me and my 4 yr old son meet him out there around 5:15 and it started off REAL REAL slow. At 6:30 I had 5 birds, but my shooting abilities had improved dramaticly. Sometime around 6:45 they started coming in so fast and furious we couldn't keep up. By 7:00 we both had our limits and could have taken 3 or 4 more limits before time to go. My son was our guide as he would yell at us "Theres some over here" or "Get ready here comes some more." There was numerous times I couldn't load my 1100 fast enough and some big groups would fly over and our guide would yell " there they go" or "why didn't ya'll shoot Dad?" We had a blast once they started flying. If I can get enough things done around the house tomorrow my son and I will return Sunday evening for some more. I did do something I hadn't done in a long time - I got a triple twice. Ain't life great!!!
