It is disturbing that no one is speaking up about the wolf problem in Wy, Mt, and Id. The RMEF, the guardians of the elk is straddleing the fence in an almost tree hugger way over the wolf issue. I just purchased the latest issue of outdoor Life while buying groceries. Jim Zumbo wrote an unbiased article telling it like it is. He confirms the devastation the wolves are causing. Outdoor life is the first publication to tell it like it is. KUDO'S to them and Jim Zumbo! I signed up for a subscription as a way of saying thanks. ;D

Everyone runs scared. They are scared that if they speak the truth they will be demonized by the press as being cruel and backward. Hard to blame anyone because usually when they do speak out the truth very few of their so called friends will stand with them if the going gets rough. That may spell the end for all of us (or our grandchildren) one of these days.
Vote.

Threatened Gray Wolf Thriving Again Friday, January 16, 2004
DENVER — Since the gray wolf (search) was put on the threatened species list a decade ago, it has been thriving in much of the Rocky Mountain West.
In fact, the wolf population has more than quadrupled, from only 140 to nearly 800 today, with packs spreading into Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.
But some aren't so happy about the increasing number of wolves, saying they're known to eat livestock and even pet dogs if they find them.
The federal government had hoped to soon begin the process of removing the gray wolf from the threatened species list and hand over management of the animals to the states where they live.
But the feds have been held up because Wyoming wants to designate the animals as predators, allowing them to be hunted almost indiscriminately. The government has nixed that solution.
With negotiations continuing and lawsuits likely on the way, it looks as if the gray wolf will stay on the threatened list for at least another two years.

It's the stinkin' feds. I live in the same town that Zumbo does (Cody Wy). The feds rejected Wyoming's attempt to delist the wolf from being an endangered species recently. The deal is that Wyoming wanted to consider them predators, which means some of them could be shot on sight. The feds'll probably never go for that. There's a bunch of other junk that goes on up here concerning Yellowstone that burns me up, but the average citizen can't do much about it. It's a political issue that the tree huggers out east (Washington DC) controls.

Hey Johnny--Howdy! Try the phone & letter to the local politicians route. Then, and only after you've talked to the politicians on all levels you can dream up; sit down with a news paper reporter that shares yer concerns.....it's amazing how a simple editorial can get some fires started!!!!!!!!!Good luck and keep trying
