This board has discussed favorite electronic predator calls, favorite hand predator calls, favorite turkey calls but never DUCK calls. Until now. For big ducks its the Haydel. Simple, plastic, but does an outstanding job for me. I also carry a simple teal / pintail whistle as well. What's yours?

Well the first duck call I ever had was an old Faulk's duck call that my grandpa gave me and I could call any and everything with it but the reed fell out of it a while back and I know where it is but haven't been back to get it (120 miles away). The call that I have called the most ducks with is the Duck Commander "Woodie". Seein' that I hunt mostly in flooded timber in east Texas and all I ever see is wood ducks, I've called quite a few of them.

I'm with ya on that one Jim, the Haydel is a tried and true favorite. I've got the regular one, the Xtra Loud mallard, and The BWT call from them on my lanyard. usually throw in one more fancy call, but those other three don't rotate, they stay on there.
Also seen the Haydels gadwall call used with good effects - I don't have one, but want to get one.

Echo open water arcrylic to get em started, a DC ole raspy or haydels cajun squeel to finish em if they're finicky. A sure shot whistle and a Tim Grounds honker call is on the lanyard too. replace the honker with a haydels teal durring the early season. use my mouth on grey ducks...
