Coffee with Coon Dawg......

I had the pleasure of meeting Coon Dawg today for coffee here in San Antonio. We got to talking hunting and the great mystical truths of the universe and before we knew it, an hour and a half had gone by..........probably enough hot air spewed out to fill a balloon!

I brought a variety of hand calls with me which I put out on the table. The waitress came over at one point and asked us if we could call elk with those......not what they were mind you, but if you could call elk with them. Ya just gotta love Texas!! ;D She then went on to tell us about an elk tag she had drawn before moving here and the doe elk she had taken. One of the calls I brought was the Cronk Custom Antler Call that Rich Cronk has donated for the prize in the membership contest. I see that Coon Dawg got a new member signed up as soon as he got home! ;D

Oh, and we did get a few strange looks when I let loose with a howler in the parking lot........

Yes again it was great to meet you and to see the variety of handcalls you had.

That was something unusual to have someone walk over and ask like she did , just glad you knew the answer, cause all I could do was say what they looked like .

BTW before any of you ask, no I didn't have a doughnut but Bob had a sweet roll ;D (secret is I'm waiting until we go out calling, it will be my first time, then WHAM steak dinner).

For those of you who know Bob, you know how great he is and for those of you haven't met him, you are in for a treat.

Is this post area going to be a regular bit.
Like visiting with Coon Dawg at his hunting lodge, and having him sit down in a big chair in front of a nice fireplace at his hunting lodge. I can see mounts on the wall all around him and he's giving out hunting advice and telling some old hunting tails.

Nawl aint nuthin lik that jus a lil palour talk down at the ole 5 and dime. You know the one with themthar city folk commin in spending wads of money like thars no tommorrow ;D.

Saber2th its like I said I learned quite a bit in the time we spent together this morning, seeing all the different types of calls and to actually hear one being used , it was the sounds I've heard while out hunting but didn't know what it was .

So its my goal to learn this art. then one day I too can fight with a lightsaber and if I'm real good I can go to Jedi school
