Yes, I know it's a "reloading" topic.....but I figure those that don't reload might not read the reloading forum! ;D
Just wondering how many of our member don't reload their own ammo, and, if you don't mind saying, why not??

Gon, I use to reload, would load up five boxes of whatever and then not look at my reloading stuff for a few years. So I sold it. Guess what I took up pdoggin, now I wish I had it all back, made the guy I sold it to a heck of a deal. Still can buy the 223 as cheap as I can load it, the one I get left behind on is the 22-250, my savages shoot the white box winchester great, but for longer shots need a heavier bullet than the 45 grain. So I'll probably start building back up on the reloading stuff.

hey gh......................i use to reload a great deal... back in the 70's and 80's.......reloading and ballistics was my hobby. i do not shoot as much as i once did. i find with all the premium loads out there i really cannot load anything that will out perform the stuff. my firearms shoot some kind of the factory stuff just as well as anything i can cook up. i do miss it , though.... okcoyote.....

Ihave never reloaded i always got what i needed out of factory rounds . i can see if your shooting Pdogs all day or shot at targets 3 times a week or if your just into it. but i never got in to the target thing always out shooting live ones. but if you get satisfaction knowing you build the bulled and have the time for it thats is a good thing in my book. ??how much is it to reload a 223 round

Depends on the bullet you use.......if you already have the brass...
figure 4 to 20 cents per bullet
1.5 cents for the primer
4 to 7 cents for powder (cheaper if you use surplus!)
low side 10 cents.......$2/box of 20
high side 30 cents......$6/box of 20
If you have to pay for brass, add another penny or so.

I do not reload nor do I plan on starting anytime in the future.
I can buy some durn good rounds from Hornady, Remington and Federal and see no need to try to do it better myself. Woud rather spend my time doing something else.

I use the $11.83 Walmart Remington Express 55 grnrs. They have shot better than reloads outa my gun. And have proven to be the best for pelts. I have toyed with the idea of reloading in fact every time Im at Walmart I look pretty hard at the reloading kits.
This info is coming from 4 years of owning this rifle and trying approx. 10 different brands and styles threw it.

Hey GH,
I do not reload. I do buy reloads from some cops in Dallas that do it as a side business. They are good quality and the accuracy (consistency) is good. The price is right , I think its .14 a piece for .223 V-max, maybe a little less for soft points which I am currently using.
I don't have time to devote to reloading because like everything else I do in my life I couldn't do it half way. Soon I'd have every piece of equipment available and would have to devote additional floor space and time to do it properly.
I know it's fun developing your own loads, tweaking power, speed and consisitency and years ago I got a small taste of it with a LEE Loader set for my .357.
Life's just slingin me too fast and I can get high quality reloads from those boys here in town. Good idea about posting this topic here, I have never clicked on the reload area.

I think at one time, I owned at least one of everything RCBS makes. I ended up selling everything a few years back. As long as Hornady keeps on making 7mm, 300, and 25-06, and Winchester keeps selling me that super accurate cheapy USA in .223, I have no plans on getting back into it. Reloading is fun, but I have enough excuses to need to go shoot/hunt as it is.

I don't reload either. I have thought about getting into it for a hobby, but then I think the Toyota 4x4 sitting in the driveway with the head off, and the boat beside it that needs carpet, and the carbs overhauled. Then there is the bow I bought two years ago, that doesn't get shot near enough. Add all this to my bad varmint hunting habit, trapping, and my deer lease that I don't see enough of,I really don't think I need another hobby.
Come to think of it, I really need to quit my job so I can get around to getting all this stuff done ;D
Winchester supremes shoot plenty good e'nuff for me
