After I finished guiding some hunters on a ram hunt a few weeks ago in west Texas, I took one of them calling. We called up the first grey fox of the year. The down side is that the hunter was never able to take a shot. I made a futile effort as he was leaving........read that as I missed! It is always fun to watch foxes come to the call. If you don't shoot at them, you can usually call them back in several times on the same stand. Are any of you starting to call yet? Bob

WE call all year long at our lease in West Texas. Being 250 miles from the house we don't get there much during the summer, but during spring turkey season this year we had a double at our first set up and a single at the next one.
Having purchased the new Western Rivers Predation caller I can't wait to give it a try when I go to fill the feeders in a couple of weeks. ;D

Hey Shooter,
Welcome to the Posse! I call whenever I can also. That is why "Season" was in quotes. All the ranchers want the predators knocked down. I don't try to get out there as much during denning, but if I get a call from a rancher inviting me to go.....I hop in the truck.
Let us know how you like the Predation in the field.
Good Hunting,
Bob

just doing the grim reaper thing, the coyotes and foxes have got together and put a 10,000 dog biscut bounty on my head. the jack rabbits are just happy to have my attention diverted from them. now that dove season is over all the doves can safely leave the better halfs bird feeder in the front yard. next time i go out i guess i'll take the 28 gauge ou and torque off the quail population. that said how are things in your world? thanks for the welcome.

We went calling last Saturday night in our pasture behind the house. We sat the call out, got in the deer stand and waited. We played the hurt rabbit and after about 15 minutes a small grey fox came out. I was using my 22-250 but to make a long story short, I shot low and missed. I hope to get him this weekend. Brenda

Hey VG,
That is one nice thing about grey foxes. You can keep calling them in. I am looking forward to pics from your hunt.
Good Luck,
Bob

Hey Bob- We finally figured out how to get the pictures posted. On my profile pic is the picture of the very first fox I shot last year. He came down the same trail, out of the same thicket as the bobcat that I shot the week before. Brenda

Nice fox, Brenda.
I like your motto. My wife and I have so much fun hunting at night we often stay out till dawn. Problem is though we then try to hunt all day too. Things like eating seem to get in the way.---sometimes. Post more pics.
