What is the best way to start Do I start with electronic (where is it legal), or does Bob have classes. Bob are you planning any Predator/Varmit hunts. If you remember I am new to hunting and my usual hunting partner is not really into P/V hunting.

Hey 2th,
You can start with one hand call, full camo (including face and hands), and your rifle. If you want to try calling with an electronic caller, you can get a used JS-512 pretty cheap. If you like electronic calling and want to upgrade to a caller with a remote (highly recommended) and newer technology later, you can usually sell the JS in a day for what you paid for it.....or keep it as a back-up!
I'll tell you what, when you come out to Robert Lee for that ram hunt, I will take you calling........no additional charge......maybe you can buy me a hamburger or some enchilada's!
Also, if you have some good spots to call, maybe I can slip up your way and show you a few tricks.

As far as I'm concerned rule #1 is "hide the ride". If you can see your truck, a coyote can too. Finding the right place to call from and approaching it carefully, keeping the wind in mind, is very important to success and this is pretty much learned by experience. I started out with a couple of cassette tapes that I would listen to and then imitate the sounds with my hand calls. Get some time and success under your belt and you'll work out a calling series that works for you. I have an electronic caller, but I like my Johnny Stewart Variable pitch predator caller. Makes everything from a jackrabbit to a cottontail to a rodent squeak all with the same call. Sceery makes one of these too. Get out and try it, have some fun with it. The worst thing that will happen is nothing will come in, but even the best get skunked sometimes.
