My good friend Bryan sent me this photo......he is a missionary in NE Alaska......he is holding the wolf. A friend of his was out in a canoe waterfowl hunting when he saw this big boy come down to the edge of the water.......he slipped a slug into the shotgun and put it through his chest! The photo doesn't show it, but the black wolf has silver guard hairs.....what a beautiful animal! To give you some perspective on size, Bryan is around 6' tall! I'm planning a hunting trip up there next year.....maybe I'll get a chance to call one of these boys in?

8-)MAN THAT IS AN IMPRESSIVE ANIMAL! While on an elk hunt two years ago in N.M., we saw and heard what looked to be a Timber Wolf. He wasn't as large as this one. Talk about making your hairs stand up, when he howled it really made you shake in your boots! About two hours later, I shot my first elk!

That will make a nice trophy. BTW what is the range for a wolf?

A wolf packs territory can be as small as 20 square miles and as large as 215 square miles. The average seems to be between 75-150 square miles. It depends on where they are located and the main food source. The ranges in the west and Alaska are larger than in Minnesota for example.
