This probalby should go in the optics forum, but then again it might not. This is a scope question but geared more towards varmint hunting. Anyone confused yet?!?!?! ;D We do alot of night hunting and would ya'll prefer a 36mm objective scope or a 50mm objective scope for night hunting? Keep in mind this is mainly for varmints and hogs at night. Does the 50mm draw in that much more light to make much of a difference?

How about going halfway. I think most of mine are 40mm I hate having to use such tall rings with most 50mm. I think 44mm is the largest I have currently inuse and the adjustable objective is smaller then most 44mm. I had a cheap bushnell that came on a rifle and it was only a 40mm but with the large knoby objective dial it was more the size of a 50mm. So it all depends on the brand. I think the light gathering on a 40mm-50mm is going to be comparable, but remember that in the world of optics you get what you pay for.
