Bozo Im interested in hunting some of the BLM land in NM. What are the regs for nighthunting, seasons, and limits. NM is only an hour away. Figure I'd pay my $55 and get away from all these hunters.
thanks in advance...

Hey Tommy, It is good to see you posting over here!! There is no season or limit on coyotes. Just make sure you don't shoot a fox, bobcat, or lion on the New Mexico side of the line. You need a $300 permit for fox and bobcat and a $210 tag for lions and there are restrictions on them. I get the $50 annual non-resident, non-game license with the $5 habitat stamp that lets you hunt National Forests & BLM land every year also. The license is good from April 1-March 31. If you get one now, don't fortget to get another one in April. You will have to check on night hunting, but I think it is a no-no. If I remember it was quirky........hopefully, one of our New Mexico hunters can chime in on that. Bob

I'd have to dig out my proclimation to be absolutely certain but I'm pretty sure that you're right, Bob. Spotlighting in NM is prohibited. Nightvision on the other hand I'm not sure about at all, I cant afford any equipment so I never looked it up.

You can spotlight NON-game animals on private land with written owners permission

Thanks for the info BW.
I was going to go to Jal this afternoon to get a license, but chickened out. I just landed 21 sections two months ago and I think my eyes are bigger than my schedule. Ill probably wait until April and shoot for next fall.
How are the huning pressures in SE NM. I was planning on entering up around Orla Tx. (Red Bluff Lake area)

Really only bird hunters over here and they are starting to die down, not sure on the Red Bluff area.
