I planned to go calling yesterday morning, but it was too cold and windy when I got up, so I scrapped that idea......it was a bit warmer this morning with light wind but the weather forecast said windy and warmer.....they got the windy part right! The wind was very light when I arrived at the property I wanted to call, but by the end of the first stand it had started to blow. I moved on to the next spot and set up......let the caller run less than 5 minutes and packed it up.....way too much wind at that location. I moved over the ridge about 3/8 of a mile and tried again.....still no takers, so I headed back to the truck. I decided to try a big draw in a highline right of way, I have killed several coyotes there before and thought maybe it would be out of the wind enough to make it a worthwhile stop. I called for about 15-20 minutes, with no response, and had actually started putting tapes back in the cases when I saw this one coming in. She stopped for a look at 100 yards or so and that was a fatal mistake! The 40 grain V-Max fired from the 223 Model 7 entered the center of her chest, there was no exit......

Hey GH,
Nice going. Good loking yote. It has been colder than a well digger's @$$ her in north Texas too. I know it's even colder up north, but so what. Cold is cold and that ole wind sure cuts. We hunted in Aspermont last weekend and only got one coyote (Patsy got him), but it was warm then. Hoping to go back on the new moon. Deer season is over so we'll start hunting at night again.
Dress warm.
