Coyote Pelts

I don't see much discussion on this board about skinning the coyote and selling the pelts. I understand that pelt prices are starting to improve. Do you skin the coyotes that you harvest or just leave them laying?

the reason i hunt coyotes is to save turkeys. they are hell on the turkey population and i love turkey hunting so i shoot every one i see. most of the time i haul them off but i dont skin them for the pelts.

We usually let them lay, but I got to hunt in Midwestern Oklahoma last month, and they told me that they sold a bobcat for $100.00 the prev. week, and coyotes were bringing about $15.00. If we could even get ten for 'em down here, I'll start skinning them.

I typically skin everything I kill and tan it. Seems someone is always wanting to trade me something for a nice fluffy northern fox or coyote hide.

prices are gettin better. i give all mine to buddy. he bags them in trash bags and throw em in the freezer. he sell them in the carcass. yotes for 15 dollars for a silver. the buyer dont like the black tipped ones. cat fetch 45- 50 dollars. heard of one selling for 100 dollars.

Nice fluffy trading material is always nice to have around Randy.
okcoyote ...........not sure what pelts are bringing in New Mexico these days. I just hate leaving them lay. I have always been taught from an early age to use what you harvest in some way.

i agree with u 'bout using what u kill. i reckon i feel better by givin em to my huntin' buddy, least someone is gettin some use out of em. but then theres them prarie pooches. i just aint found a way to use em, nor do i feel as remorseful as i should. i mean afterall, they're one of God's little creatures just like them yotes.can u make me feel so guilty that i will stop murderin' the little boogers ?
