What do all you West Texas and New Mexico coyote hunters consider the best camo pattern to use? There doesn't appear to be very many patterns that closely match the type of brush and rocks that are found in this part of the country. Those Ghillie suites look they would be mighty hot. I like the looks of the Natural Gear camo. I am currently using the Mossy Oak Breakup, but wondering if it's not too dark for the type of cover found in the area.

Hooter... if you can still find some, the DIAMONDBACK camo pattern may be real effective. It is a mesquite pattern. Their website is inactive, so don't know if they are still selling online. The company was in Bryan. You should know where that's at!

Got me an Aggie down there alright. My daughter is a Junior this year. Man will I be glad when she graduates! That would really improve my ability to buy new camo and guns and reloading supplies............well you get the idea. Iwill see if she can find out if they are still in business down there. I haven't seen that camo advertised in a long time. Had plumb forgotten about it. Hooter

i have a couple sets of the brown nat gear. i think this is the best camo on the market no matter where you hunt. i have hunted several states for deer and turkeys and i think it blends pretty much anywhere. it probably wont work too good in the snow but anywhere else it is good. HUNTER

Thanks Hunter. I have a sister-in-law & family that live in Monroe. I was born in Delhi La. just down the road to the East. Small world as they say! I hope to get back to that country one of these days. Kind of miss all those big trees and plenty of water to play in. Hooter

Hey Hooter, The NatGear is great camo and will work well in your area, but so will the Break-Up, or Advantage, or most others. The only one I don't recommend out there is the Desert Camo. It is too light, has too much white and tends to stand out so any movement is apt to be picked up. The camo's job is to break up your outline. Most of the better patterns today will do that. Again, the most important thing is to sit as still as possible so your movement doesn't give you away.......maybe I said that before. ;D A lot of hunters will wear different camo on top and bottom to further break up their outline.....not fashion PC, but effective. Another route you can go with camo are the patterns like ASAT, Predator, and Sticks N' Limbs. There are also some newer patterns designed more for the west and southwest like Sage Country, Truesage, and Prairie Ghost. One I use a lot here in Texas is Brush Country. Here is the Brush Country: Here is Break-Up on top with Advantage on the bottom in New Mexico: Here is Sticks N' Limbs in Arizona: And finally, the latest look in camo fashion :

I like the looks of that Brush Country camo. Do you have a link to their web site or any other camo sources? Do you use a fanny pak or back pack to carry needed supplies on the hunt? I have a camo back pack, but it is a little large and I don't like having to take it off everytime I need something out of it.

hey Hooter, the local wally world here in carlsbad has some closeout camo & some of it has natgear pattern. I picked up a pair of six pocket pants made by 10x in natgear for $16.00. All they have left are pants though. I've been using all natgear and it seems to be working really well. Shoot me an email and maybe we can call sometime. I'm an old local boy myself, are you with WIPP?

Thanks for the info singlecoil. I don't venture out to Wally World much. Too dern crowded for me most of the time! I will go out there tomorrow and check on the pants. I don't work for WIPP. I have only lived in Carlsbad for 1 year. I work for Kerr McGee Oil & Gas. Our office is right next door to Denny's on West Pierce Street. I'm just starting to coyote hunt, so I have a lot to learn. It would be great to go call sometime together. Come by my office if you get a chance and we will visit. Hooter

Went out to Wally World to check on the camo sale. Those natgear pants by 10X were down to $10.00 a pair. ;D Bought myself 2 pair and a shirt to match for a grand total of $40.00. They also had some light weight natgear gloves marked down to $2.95 each. Let's see...............got the Loudmouth, got the camo, found the stool to sit on, got my reloading equipment set back up. Now what? Oh yea! The gun................got to work on that one now! Hoot
