Has anyone ever called in a cat using the bobcat in heat tape? I have uesed it quite a few times with zero positive results.......
During deer season 2 years ago (late November), I actually had a bobcat around me that was making this sound......it went on for 45 minutes and the cat finally made its way past my stand......I was a bit surprised because I had always heard that bobcats breed in Feb-March???

.....put me in the "Me Too" column. I have used it numerous times in great cat locations and never called a thing with it. I just went back to prey sounds, especially bird distress. .... anybody ever done any good with this rascal? Bob

I have had some success useing bobcat in heat sounds. I use them mostly when I get a cat hung up. I use my voice to make the sound. I have neighbor that raises all kinds of large cats. I herd one of his bobcats makeing this sound one day and ask what it was. He said they always make it when they come in heat. He also said he has had wild bobcats in his yard responding to the sound. A little light went off in my head. I started trying to mimic the sound with my voice and got it down pretty close. I make the sound kinda like you woild make the donald duck voice, just more cat like. I'm sure most of you have heard a house cat in heat. It sounds just like that only slightly deeper. It's not my go to call for bobcats, but I have used it successfully on cats. It's not a long range call but it can make a cat show himself when sure theres one close by.
Good Hunting

Hey Byron, Have you listened to the JS Bobcat in Heat cassette? How close is it to the sound you make? I think we are all trying to find out about Gerald's sound on that tape....... All help is appreciated! Thanks, Bob

Bob
I haven't heard Geralds tape, but I'm sure its good. Cats are finicky and sometimes don't come no matter how good your calling is. I do know in the sound is effective, but mostly during Febuary though.
