My son, Steven, and I went out this evening, after work to a large ranch east of Andrews. Didn't have much time, plus it was looking like rain, misting fairly heavily. On our second stand, we were overlooking a large draw, facing west, with brush to our backs. There was almost no wind, just heavy mist. I blew a lone howl on my CritrCall Magnum, then Steven followed with some pup ki-yi's. Just as he really got into his first series, a big male coyote almost ran into his lap, from the northeast. I didn't really see the dog until I heard Steven thrash in his bush. It was great! The dog didn't spook, just trotted out in front of Steven, looking back at him. I could barely stifle cracking up. Steven was turned the wrong way with his rifle and afraid to move. I could have shot the dog easily (if I could quit shaking with laughter), but finally took mercy on Steven and squeezed my squeaker; the dog looked at me and Steven shot him. I guess it loses a lot in translation, but it was very funny. I guess you just had to be there. By then, we, and all our stuff was soaked, so we packed it in. I guess this was the first coyote we've gotten in the almost-rain. Later, Bob (gunsetc)

Hey Bob,
You had me chuckling!! ;D The one thing we can be sure of about coyotes is that you never really know where they will come from or how fast! We try to get as many things in our favor as possible, but.........
I am glad Steven got to pop him!
Good Hunting,
Bob
