bob REM223PA, this is just my opinion but cats are not as smart as coyotes. cats are just slower at coming in, thus they have a better chance of spotting you before you spot them. cats do not use their nose to find you. coyotes use all their senses, eyes, ears and nose. defeat their eyes with a good camo and being still, defeat their ears by being careful when walking to your stand and while waiting. i personally think defeating their nose is imposable but you could try cover sent . you have to be razor sharp with your shooting at running coyotes. i had trouble with my kid shooting at running coyotes, he would shoot over or behind them. i took him in the back yard with his rifle (bolt removed) and made him tracking the dog in the scope while we played fetch. he had to pay close attention to where the cross hairs were when he squeezed the trigger. if you have them in fairly close bark like a dog to stop them but be ready to shoot like right now.
my 2 cents

I have killed my share of cats, some were called in and others were just there. In my opinion Foxhunter is a 100% right, cats don't have alot of brain power and there are not as many cats as there are coyotes. Day hunters have had more cats come in and never seen then seen. Nights are a different story. I think cats are harder to call then coyotes, some guys don't think so, only a matter of opinion and how and where you hunt I guess. I've gone out and taken 5 or 6 cats in a night, but I live in a very rich cat area, same goes for some of the guys in Texas and a couple other places. The big advantage is hunting at night for us that can, cat eyes are a dead give away, but daytime they have the advantage. Cats are not all that easy to call in, coyotes usually are? lol Good Hunting.
