Anyone here like to crow hunt or have any pictures, tips, ideas, or stories?

I have a tip: Use a Johnny Stewart PC-3 for a crow call. Don't bite the tip like you would if you were predator calling, just blow into the end of it w/lips on the very end of the call. I have called in huge flocks of crows in the city but they don't cooperate as well in the woods, stoooopid birds

NB, I got a tip too... Don't take any wooden nickles. Sorry an old joke I couldn't resist. Actually go to www.crowbusters.com even if you don't join the forums/club there is a lot of good information. My favorite thing I got from there is the downloadable crow target. I used that to make about 40 cardboard crow sillohuette decoys, and I got a package of bamboo skewers from Wal Mart to make stakes to poke em into the ground. Stick the skewers between the layers of cardboard and glue them in place. I set up about one third of them head down, feeding. I set half of them east/west and the rest north/south, so that birds can see some of them from any angle. I set up my decoys in a V to lead the incoming birds to the center between my brother's position and mine, and some cover at our backs (the bottom of the V), much like a duck hunter would. Make sure to scatter a few crows outside the V like this .:V:. this will keep them from flanking your set. If you added a dozen full body decoys (like Cabelas has) and maybe a flapping crow like AllPredatorCalls sells, you'd have a pretty bomber set-up. Add an owl, and using the fight tapes would be very productive also. Like my brother Red says though, we didn't have a lot of luck with the crows this season, but boy we called in some big flocks last year, and we can gather a hundred city crows in a heartbeat. Our season just ended... I am already looking forward to it opening again. Have fun, Krusty
