I've been asked about the calls I make so I thought I'd post a photo or two.......I don't have any calls for sale right now, but I hope the weather warms up enough for me to make a few in the near future. The call at the top of the photo is the one Cronk has, the one on the far right is a mini call that I made when the blank I was working with split.....the little call wasn't much larger than a fifty cent piece but was fully functional and sounded great! The five calls in the middle and the one at the top are all made of cocobolo, the bottom and far right calls are madagascar ebony and the one on the left is figured maple........ This one is figured maple, I made it as a companion to a custom rifle stock made from the same wood......the set was raffled as a fund raiser. This is two photos of the same call while still on the lathe......notice the color variation from one side of the blank to the other! The wood is cocobolo but is different than most cocobolo you see......I refer to it as flame cocobolo......this call was made for custom knifemaker Dave McCroskey in Stillwater, OK who was kind enough to take me through the process of making one of his custom knives......which is now a prized possession of mine. I've got more photos around here somewhere, I'll post them if I can find them........

Great wood GH. Really beautiful workmanship. If I had any experience hunting predators or calling I might get one of those beauties from you. Maybe after I try it a bit.

I could tell you.....but then I'd have to kill you....and I'm running out of places to hide the bodies! ;D I don't remember if it's a Barbara or a Louise........oh, wait a minute, that's a different kind of mandrel...... Actually, it's just a 1/4" mandrel......don't know what brand or kind.....I've had it for several years.

Very nice GH and real pretty woods. Similar to the calls I make. I use a pen mandrel to turn mine. Works great. I have been focusing on using laminated rifle stock wood and some flame maple. I've tried the cocobolo and it is a beautiful and easy to turn wood but it also gives me a really bad case of the heebee jeebies-- rash, itch, tears-- despite all precautions. Another favorite of mine is bocote-- turns well, beautiful grain, and a nice finish. I get good sound projection out of all hardwoods. Nice pictures of some really nice lookin' calls!
