You made all those calls in one day?!? Calls per day, instead of days per call... must be nice, probably leaves some time in your life to actually go out and blow on one of em once in a while. How's that Rayovac call sound, looks like it might be hard to blow through. Pretty durn cool... if you like cylindrical call bodies. Krusty

Well Krusty, over the years, I have learned a thing or two about working wood.....keep in mind, the calls in the photo were all turned in one day, but they are not finished!
.....about that rayovac......I tried an energizer first.....but I had to give it up......it just kept blowing and blowing and blowing! ;D

GH, Finishing is the easy part lol... at least for me. I can, and am, finishing about six calls today (got a shot of sunshine goin myself, don't have to stink up my office). The six calls I am clearcoating today took me approx. 40 hours to carve. Those don't have finish on them yet? Man that is some shiny stuff, for no clearcoat! What do you use for finish on your calls? Maybe sometime we can do a trade... do you ever make any open reed calls? Krusty

Krusty
No, I have never made any open reed calls.....I may experiment with that in the next few months......I also want to try making a grunt call or two.......
The shine is mostly due to the way I make the calls...... not the finish......there is no clearcoat on any of my calls.....

GH, If you do consider making open reeds, I'd be glad to help in any way I can. The doubled reed design I use makes a really good deer grunt. I also have quite a few different reed materials, not commonly used, and access to plenty more of it. I'd be glad to share some of it with you. I figured you were spinning some "super secret sauce" into the wood... lol The force is working Master, I think I can see now... Krusty says from the dark depths of unknowing. Hehe Krusty
