Is there a source for call making supplies? If a person wanted to try their hand at making a call, where can the different voices be purchased? Inquiring minds need to know...... Hooter

The voices can be ordered from All Predator Calls 25 at a time or you can buy an assortment of 40 voices. They also have reed material for open reed calls (from Crit-R-Call)

I'd offer one small piece of advice to prospective call makers........find your own design......don't try to copy someone else's calls......you will be much more proud of the result!

I'm not a prospective call maker GonHuntin. I'm just curious how it's done. I don't think I have the patience that it takes for something like that. Hooter

Nope, no website....at least not right now......when I have calls for sale, they usually don't stay around long enough to put them on a website........I have posted some photos of calls I've made and sold.....let me know if you missed them and I'll try to point them out......
I'll be glad to notify you next time I have a batch ready to sell......just send me a PM so I won't forget!

Rick I believe you are smart enough to know what I mean! Nothing wrong with taking the features you like from two or three different calls and combining them into a call of your design! If it isn't like any other call on the market......then it is your design....right? I just hate to see a new call maker try to duplicate something that is already out there.......why steal someone else's work? If you are talented enough to make a call.....you can make a call that is different from someone else's!

GoneHunting This is my first post in here {and it probley in the wrong place} and I have several quick questand for you if you dont mind. I was reading that .010 thick of Mylar is the prefered thickness for a open reed call is this correct ? My problen is I could only find some in a Quilting store and it is .012 thick will this work befor I waste a bunch of time and cant get the darn thing to work. I have never made a call in my life never even thought of making one till I found this sight .O I am trying to make a howler for yotie.but I am going to try Thanks

Nimrod
I don't make open reed calls (yet) so I'm not the best person to answer your question.....but I seriously doubt the .002 difference in thickness will keep a reed from working.....might be a little lower pitch than you want.....but it still should work.
I'm sure you will get a better answer from some of the open reed call makers on the forum.

Gonhuntin I guess I'm going to stop making the bear call's. going to just make my antler call's. I know those are different . I feel like shoot right now dont want to copy anybody. actually dont really want to make any call's. lost the desire.

Hey Rick, I am sorry to hear you are under the weather! Please don't stop making your calls, the antler or the others. Each call maker is going to bring something new to each call he makes. You are using different voices and reed materials in yours and the feedback on them is great. I can attest to the elk antler closed reed calls from personal experience. There are only so many ways you can make a call. GH, I have to disagree with you a bit. I don't think that new call makers starting out with some of the basics is stealing. That is pretty strong language. I think it is just flattening the learning curve. Rick, your open reed call is not an exact duplicate of Rich's anyway. I know that you make your calls because you enjoy doing it and not to sell. Only give it up if you no longer enjoy it. For example, I would hate to see Dan Thompson stop making his Weems type calls. Bob
