Up until now, I had never attempted to make an open reed call.......yesterday, I found an end piece off a candle stick project I had made......I thought I could see an open reed call in that end piece.....so I started turning it and.....yep, I was right.....there was an open reed call hiding in there! I found some reed material today and put it together.........I still have a lot to learn about open reed call making.....but it's a start! I call it the dinner bell......... ;D .....................................sounds pretty good too! outcast.homeunix.org/uploads/dinnerbell.gif [/img]

Shane
Believe it or not, it's not as loud as the turkey screamer I built for you..........
Show me some photos of turkey yelpers and I'll give it a go! (seriously!)
Your MO has not made it yet.....maybe tomorrow?
Mark

See if I can do this....here is one of LF Cox's trumpet calls. These don't even need reeds. It all depends on the tip diameter, I think this is one with an Ivory turned tip, but can be done with all wood. You operate them with a suction kissing type noise, I have made them out of Turkey Wingbones with good results. When made correctly, they will make some unbelievable, true to life Turkey yelps, cutts, cluks, and other sounds. I'll try and track down some more info for you, I know I got some around here, just need to locate them.
