hey bobcat just an idea,how about a 500 S/W in a 16in bbl levergun,now that would be very interesting,do you know of anywhere that I could find chamber dims?

I know a few companies are looking at it. Gary Reeder just said it would be too expensive to tool up for. Wild West Guns is reportedly trying to put one together.

If you are going to a lever gun, I think a 45-70 or something of that ilk would better serve you? Wild West does chamber the .50 Alaskan in their lever guns:

I was just thinking(dangerous habit)it might be very interesting to have a rifle and pistol in the same cal,I already have both rifle and pistol in 44mag and it is very handy just load both and put 10or so extra rounds in your pocket,it is however a shortrange propisition tho

If you like toyslike that you need to check out the Serbu shorty 12 or 20 gauage shotgun only $600 and its not class 3. the secrect service uses them for (my President) details and there are legal ways around having to get a class 3 license for something like that.

I believe you are mistaken! If it's a shotgun with an overall length less than 26".....it is a class 3 firearm.....could be a: destructive device if the barrels are rifled and a bore over 1/2"......an "any other weapon" or a short barreled shotgun.......either way....it is a class 3 firearm! In the case of the Serbu Super Shorty....it is classified as an "any other weapon" and it is definitely class 3!

A Ruger #1 with a 20" barrel would be my choice for the 500 S&W in a rifle. Just may have to do that being as how I know where to get some #1 barreled actions.
