In my wanderings I've come across one of these in 300 Win Mag. It appears to be in great shape and they are asking $350 for it, is that a good price?? Thanks!! Oh yeah, for whatever its worth, there is a Bushnell 3x9 Sportview on it...

I have one in .243 that I really like. Funny thing is I bought it a pawn shop, mounted with a cheap scope for - you guessed it - $350....... Got them to include tax in that too.
Thought I got a pretty good deal....

Kelly, Let me see if I understand this.... you are wondering if you NEED a 300WM. Let me help you decide by giving you my theory on NEED. If it goes BANG and ya aint got one exactly like it.....then ya need it! Even if ya got one exactly like it... you need a backup! I am really good at spending everyone else's money ;D. BTW, this is coming from someone that has 8 .224 caliber rifles and I NEED every single one of them ;D ;D ;D

Seriously, check the price on that ruger before you buy it. I have only owned one ruger and it was a 77/17 and I was real happy with it, but the "scuttle butt" on ruger is that the fit and finish is awsome, they do make some pretty rifles..... but I understand that the barrels they use are not so good. There are a lot of Rugers out there that are shooters, but I "hear" that there are a lot that no matter what you do, short of replacing the barrel, you can't get them to shoot. Now I don't want any of you Ruger fans to go and jump all over me, cuz I qualified this with the statement of "what I am hearing". I DO NOT have any experience with a Ruger centerfire rifle, only a rimfire, and I was happy with it. The trigger on my 77/17 was pretty bad, but it was pretty easy to fix that problem.

I don't need any questionable guns. And I don't need to spend the money either. I'm planning a bowhunt in Africa around May and need to be saving big time.....

I paid 325 for a just about new one in 270 3 years ago and have since sold all the other rifles I had in similar calibers, I'm extremely pleased with it. At $300, that's fair, make sure and ask them why they are getting rid of it and if they dont' give you a straight answer or it sounds fishy, I'd walk away, there are a lot of bad guns out there that just get bought and sold over and over and over.
