Really sorry to hear you didn't get it.
I've got one with a Weaver K-6 on it and just love it! 
BTW, It is STILL the 250-3000 Savage! Like so many other things, there are always revisionists around who want to "change history" for some reason!
As I understand it, the greatest "claim to fame" of this cartridge was that it was the FIRST factory cartridge to make 3,000 fps. Quite a feat in those days!
