Does anyone know where I can get a rifle parkerized aroung the Austin area? Looking for someone to redo a Remington 788. It's a real easy job. Not much to the rifle.

Go by Heritage Firearms at 183 and Anderson Mill. Talk to those guys. They deal with a lot of military grade weapons, and would be able to refer you to someone who can parkerize your 788. Take care.

I kind of wonder about Heritage. They have not been to the last two gun shows and there is not much in the store. I wonder if they will be around much longer???

It's hard to tell in this era. A lot of their customers were computer-techno-wizards, and there are a whole lot of those types looking for work in the Austin area. They sure seemed to have a lot of overhead, in the area of hired help. That little shop doesn't require four employees working at the same time, in my opinion. But, they always treated me well, and most of the time were willing to negotiate on their posted prices. Like them or not, I sure hate to see any firearms retailer hit tough times.
