 Well, I finally got a scope on my new Savage 11FNS 22-250 and gave her a test drive today. I zeroed it in and tested three loads that I had worked up for my custom 22-250 that I had to sell. To say the least I am very impressed. I have not done anything to the trigger yet, so it is still at roughly 100lbs., or at least it seems that heavy. This model is last years and does not have the AccuTrigger. I will add a SharpShooter or Rifle Basix trigger later. Here is how it shot out of the box with a Nikon Monarch 3-9x40 at 100 yards: 50 gr. Nosler BT's 39.0 grs. H-380 Win Brass WLR Primer Group: .526" ;D 55 gr. Sierra #1365 SPBT 36.0 grs. Varget Win Brass WLR Primer Group: .651" ;D 60 gr. Partition 36.5 grs. H-380 Win Brass WLR Primer Group: .776" ;D Anybody want to go calling........ Bob |

i too own a sav. mine is 16fss. these darn things are the most accurate rifles out of the box i have seen.
maybe not the most glamorous,but i will take their tight little group anyday. i have never tried a 52 hp. do these things drop yotes very well or are they intended for target use. i need to find a good factory load for mine. i have had not so good luck with the horn. vmax in 55gr. have had to "chase em" down after they run 100 yds. perhaps the are not opening up like they should. shed some light, please.

I know several predator hunters that use the 52 gr. HP's with great success. Those 55 gr. Sierra #1365 soft point boat tail Game Kings will hammer them with authority as well. They also usually result in less pelt damage.

bobcat, thanx for the reply. what are your thoughts on the "plactic tipped " bullets like the vmax, blastic silver tip, nosler ballistic tip, blitz kings etc. i personally think the horn. sx, sierra bliltz are quicker killers. maybe 'cause they open up quicker. i guess i will have to get back into reloading.
my son came home from college and said he had joined PETA. i suppose i do not get around enough. he said it stood for PEOPLE EATING TASTY ANIMALS. I had not heard that one. ii kinda goes with "right next to the mashed potatoes.

OKC, You scared me for a minute there!!  PETA...... Here is the link to the People Eating Tasty Animals web-site. You will enjoy it: mtd.com/tasty/I use the 50 gr. BT's and have used the 40 gr. V-Max with great success in various 22-250's and 223's. Almost all of the animals I took with them dropped in their tracks, including coyotes, bobcats, javelina, and blackbuck antelope. The majority had no exit wound. BUT, when your shot is a little off, on the shoulder, or inside 50 yards or so, you can end up with grapefruit size holes both entrance and exit. They have a tendency to blow up on the shoulder. The BT's are a little beefier that the rest of the pack so I gravitated to them. Bob |

Bob,
Just ordered a 12bvss 22-250, Leupold 4.5 x 14 x 50 AO
combo today.
I have mostly 223 experience in AR's.
What do you think of the Sierra 60's #1375 as opposed to the 55 Vmax's in a 22-250.
I've been in touch with BWise about a trip to NM.
Can't wait to pop some pdogs.
