Does anyone else currently chamber the .17 Rem. in a more reasonably priced rifle? I am interested in one, but not for $600.00 +. I really wish NEF chambered this cal.

I believe Sako has one but it is high priced. CZ also just came out with one in their 527 varmint series. Price tag on gunbroker.com is $459. You could also have a barrel made up or find a used one for a T/C Encore. That's all I know of besides Remington.

A guy I talked to today said that he thinks savage either is or will be chambering the 17 Rem soon.
*just checked their website, and don't see any mention of it

Is .17 Rem ammo as hard to find as I have heard that it is ? People I have talked to said you can't find the ammo anywhere.

I don't know, but the gun shop I deal with will order any ammo you need, so I don't see that as much of a problem. I just want a gun that makes one small entry wound and that is all. I have read reports online that said they regularly shoot 'yotes @150yds with this round and they drop like a rock. The only way they could tell where they hit was during the skinning out. If fur prices continue to improve, this round becomes more appealing to me
