You guys that are here in the SA area, where is your favorite place to target shoot? I have been out to the Bullet hole range and a place to shoot. Both of them are decent ranges, but there is no where to set up a chronograph at either range. Some suggestions of your favorite places to shoot would be appreciated! Also are there any local places that a person can just go and plink, like at water jugs cans etc???

Hey DD,
You can go to Cedar Ridge in Bulverde or Bracken off 1604 and Nacogdoches on Marbach Road. You can chrono at both places. Cedar Ridge has more ranges of various types.

I usually shoot at Cedar Ridge in Bulverde, or at Dietz's on State Hwy. 46, just west of New Braunfels. Your probably going to have more flexibilty running your chrono at Howard Dietz's range. Cedar Ridge has weird hours, and it's hit or miss on the mood of the owner. Howard Dietz treats his customer's like adults, until they demonstrate otherwise.

Hey Bob, I'm not sure. To be quite honest, I didn't know that Dietz even had a website. I will poke around tonight, and see if I can locate it.

Yea, I work up there. Howard Dietz has had that range, and a lot of acreage for at least 25 years. All these yuppies are moving out of San Antonio, and are buying their little half acre "ranchitos" in the area. You know the drill, they are all mortified that someone is shooting a gun in such close proximity to their home. Very indicative of the left wing liberal mentality that is moving out our way. The good news is that Howard Dietz is such a bullheaded, opinionated, strong-willed dutchman (I admire that in a person), that he won't go down without a fight. Not to mention the conservative, right wing judicial system in Comal County is not going to rule against a man making a living. Well that's probably a lot more information than anyone wanted to know, but darn, I sure feel better now. ;D
