New Military Cartridge-6.8 x 43

Hey Y'all,

Sarge, CoonDawg, and I were chatting about the new 6.8 x43 round. I just wanted to see what you guys thought. Here is some info from Barrett:

well that upper looks alittle too much buck rodgers,but it would be a good addition in a CZ527,more retained energy downrange than a 223,the same ballistics as a 168gr 7.62 to 500yds,what the military has needed for a long time

I talked with an Army Ranger last night that felt the cartridge would be seen in the field soon.

Only time will tell if its as good as it looks on paper

Remember the 9mm vs the 45 acp thing, the 223 is better than than 308 or 30-06

Field trial and paper have a way of giving people the wrong ideas

Give me a 300 winny and a colt 45 or 10mm and I can harrass the world ;D

FYI there is a good article in the march/april issue of RifleShooter,it will not replace the 7.62(too many good uses and good gpmg's) in the article it is putup in a CZ527with the only changes being to the barrel(the rifle was origonally in 7.62x39 therefore the boltface isnt changed)claimed vel is 2971 remington is only offering 115gr bullets energy at muzzle 2002fpe and 1075fpe at 300yds,remington is also introducing a new powder with this cartg,I might haf to have one of those if CZ decides to chamber it(anybody make it to the SHOT show and could shead more light on this development)

im glad the miltary is starting to use a bigger round than the 223, ive talked to a lot of my buddies who has came back from iraq and said the 223 was too small and took muti. shots to take someone out. our moto is one shot one kill well we need a gun that will do that, if i ever have to go battle i want a gun well do some damage when i hit someone.
