There is something about the sub-calibers (17 and below) that rouses my interest. Can someone explain the difference between a 17HMR and a 17CCM and why a 17CCM can shoot a 20gr bullet at 2650fps and a 17HMR can only do it with a 17gr bullet. It is my understanding that the case capacity of both is the same since the CCM was based on the 22mag case.
Thanks, Qaz

Qaz, The 17CCM is a necked down 22CCM. The 22CCM is in no way a 22Mag. The CCM stands for Cooper Centerfire Magnum. The case is a proprietary centerfire one. The dimentions of the case are noteably different. These should help explain the velocity difference.
