Just started getting all the parts together to build a fur friendly close quarters (150 yards) coyote and fox gun. Have any of you had any experiance with this caliber. Right now I'm shooting a Tact20 and love it to death but anything under 150 seems to be a little messy and not to fur friendly. This is why I tossed around the 14 and 15 calibers. I like the 221 case and think it would be a great wild cat.................. Any thoughts sly

I'm not much on sub calibers, but I think a 17 Mach IV would be pretty cool! As a bonus, 17 cleaning stuff, bullets, powder funnels, etc are not that hard to get..........

15 cal. I'm scared I'll pinch my fingers when I start loading for my 17 Rem! would a magnifying lens be needed for this caliber, I would like to know where you would find cleaning rods and brushes etc. for this micro. Sounds like fun would like to see a picture of the round when your done, smallest I've seen was a 17 hornet. Kirk

Sly: Have you checked out www.saubier.com ? Those dudes think anything bigger than .224 is elephant killers. A GREAT BUNCH of FOLKS who will fill your head with ideas about tiny bullets. Gotta' love the 20's, huh? I have two 20 Tacticals and working on another in .204 - just haven't decided on the case yet, but I want it big enough to shoot 50 grain bullets at PD's. - BCB

Yes sir I have been to Jim's place and lurked for almoust 2 years. I have posted there a couple times looking for bullets and an extractor for a Sako 461 with the old style extractor.
My good friend Blaine Eddy is who has my intrest perked about this 15-221, I told him that I was thinking of building a 14 or something of that nature and he said he knew someone who was building up this little 15 and he thought it may hit a little harder and thats why I asked if anyone knew anything about it. Blaine has a 14 and says it will kill a coyote dead as a rock inside its effective range. If Blaine says so I have no reason to 2nd guess him. I respect Blaine and his opinions.
It just makes me warm all over thinking of a cartridge that will almost leave no hole going IN... I think it would be a great little fox killa and even a coyote gun with its own limitations.
I sure hope it ain't to hard to hand load them little bullets............and what happens if you drop one when your loading.......LOL
I to would like to see a pic of this cartridge.

Sly:
Jeff Lawrence - Lawrence Rifle Barrels - may be who Blaine is referring to. Seems like Jeff posted here recently about something.
Currently there is a post on Saubier from Jeff about expanding his business. His son is working on a 15 caliber. - BCB
Edit: Sly: check the post on the 15/221, etc. in Rifles below this. That is Jeff posting. - BCB
