Yepper, this is a bow only concession and I was so excited I left without a brochure last night Three animals are included, one warthog and choice of two others. Some of them are blesbok, impala, blue wildebeast cow.. and I don't remember the other ones I'll let ya'll know more of the details when I get the brochure! Tom Miranda from ESPN had a show from there last year but I can't even remember the name of it now

Congratulations on your first safari! There are a few things you should know: 1. 5 days isn't near enough time to really experience Africa, my wife and I hunted 7 days (stayed 9)and have kicked ourselves for not booking a longer trip....which leads to number 2...... 2. Airfare is your biggest single expense.....I believe your figure is about $600 too low......you might be able to fly right now for $1200, but June is the peak season and prices are higher.....since airfare is your biggest expense, staying a few more days won't add much to the total cost.....it costs the same to fly over for 5 days of hunting as it does for 14! 3. Getting your trophies home is another big expense, we had 4 capes, 3 skulls/horns and 3 back hides shipped back from Namibia.......cost was $800+ by the time we added brokerage fees, customs fees, USF&W fees and storage to the actual shipping charges.....if you bring home a warthog, figure a bit more because swine and primates require special licensing/handling. 4. Do your homework and make sure you are getting the best bang for your buck......the animals you listed are at the cheaper end of the spectrum...... 5. You will most likely be hunting a high fenced game ranch, not necessarily a bad thing, but check to see how big the area is......might also want to find out if it is a "put and take" ranch....may not matter to you, but that isn't my idea of a safari........might as well hunt exotics in Texas....... 6.Your first time is great, but Africa is a drug and you will be addicted when you get home.....this addiction will cause you to rack your brain looking for the quickest way to get back! ;D Whatever you do, read this: www.accuratereloading.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=473365&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=7&fpart=1and this: www.accuratereloading.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=472962&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=7&fpart=1

Kelly GH is right on about this stuff, not trying to burst your bubble or anything but there are alot of people that don't care what they take you for

GH, thanks for the input! Most of these things have been addressed already. 1. I know 5 days isnt very long but I have other things going that nearly made me not make the trip at all. I figure 5 days is better than none 2. Flights are being booked from the South Africa side because the airfare is about $600 cheaper that way ;D you hit the cost right on the head there, it is $1800 booking from this end. 3. I am allowing $1500 to get stuff shipped to my taxidermist here 4. The animals listed are the 'bait' if you will. I am hoping to bring back a kudu and a gemsbok which will cost another $2000. 5. The Orion ranch is a high fenced operation as there is no hunting allowed on public land in S. Africa. 6. I'm really looking at this as a scouting trip with some friends because everyone says the same thing, its like a drug! With all that said, this is my buddies third trip to this operation and I trust his judgement completely. I expect to have a grand time and know I will be spending towards $10K total but its only money! The dangerous animals they have on this concession are lions, hippos, and white rhino so I am glad we will be hunting from 'hides' (African blinds) and they are either on top of a tower or buried in the ground. All hunting for the game we are going after is over waterholes. The outfitter offers evreything up to and including the Big Five. I think the Big Five are going to have to wait for another trip though
