Just curious if there were any traditionalists here....
Myself, I use a ChekMate Longbow (the company is in British Columbia) The weight is 64#@28" and I have a 32" draw
I use Ash arrows fletched with turkey feather, with 160gr broadheads, My friends often refer to them as "Flying Broomsticks" because of th eweight, complete arrow is 820gr.... But they sure hit well..
So, what do y'all shoot?

Hey there! Just ask on this board and someone will have or know anything you want! Or at least it seems! I myself have played in traditional archery for years, But have not for the last couple of years because of an elbow problem, It is much better now and I need to see about getting back to it! Just a quik picture to show you a couple of mine! Not too good of a pic but you should get the idea I dabbled in being a Bowyer for awhile, All these are my creations and the early ones at that! The one on the far left is one of my laminated bows a reflex deflex design at about 56#, It is pupleheart with a Walnut riser, The middle is an Osage orange self bow at about 58#, The one on the far right is still in the making, It is Hickory, As you can see it is trying to take a set and I will have to steam it back out!? img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-2/627714/bow1.jpg[/img]

Traditional here in Neb, Canadian Penguin!!! I shoot a 60" 64# @ 28" Custom Predator Recurve most of the time, and my arrows are about 720 grs. I've opted for heavy 60-75 carbon express with 178 gr broadheads, and also add the weight tubes, they punch through anything on the continent!! tell me more about your ash arrows, I have a 31 inch draw and haven't had any luck finding wood to fly good through my predator, what's their spine, tapered, Paralell ?? the fishman

Those are some nice looking bows Bluedog! I've dabbled with trad but only hunted that way once. I had a Super Kodiak that was just too much for my shoulder at 60# so I sold it. I'm hoping to get a Mike Palmer bow built this year though

I have a few trad bows, and have been trying to perfect my shooting since the 1950's. The last few years a problem with bone spurs in my shoulder has limited my shooting, so I switched to a crossbow for serious hunting. I've got a couple longbows on order with a drop in poundage from what I've used in the past (60/65#) to see if I can handle them. A CheckMate at 53# @28" and a bamboo backed osage at 50#@28. I'm afraid most of my trad bow shooting is going to be limited to "stump shoting" and small game though, as the shoulder problem (pain) causes some severe lapses in the concentration needed to shoot well.
