Bob: Noted that you have a Nikon Monarch scope on your predator rifle, and was just wondering how you like it? Bright? Clear? Solid? I bought a pair of the Monarch Binoculars and am very please with them.

I love the Nikon Monarch optics. I have a pair of binoculars, a 3-9X40 and a 3.5-10X50, and they are all bright, sharp and super clear. They stand up to recoil and I have never had any problems at all with them. I looked at the Zeiss Conquest and the Leo VX 3 but just couldn't see enought differance to justify the $$$. Hope that helps some and I know Bob will chime in and tell you about his experience. He is actually the one who got me started on the Monarch series in the first place.

I have Monarch's on all of my hunting rifles. They are the best bang for the buck in that price range. I would match them to the Leupold Vari-X III and B&L Elite 4200, Zeiss Conquest, and Burris Signature. They are very clear and hold their zero. I particularly like the 95% light transmission for very early and late predator calling....and night hunting.

Bob: When you say you "match them?, does that mean you think they are as good as Leos and Conquests in your opinion?

the niko's are pretty good I guess, but I took the 5.5x16.5 monarch off my RRA varminter and replaced it with a loopy 6x18 target, I like it better. the worst part was unpacking the shiny black nikon box and reading "made in taiwan" on it. Sorry niko fans I like U.S. or german built optics. RR

Leupold glass is made somewhere in Asia. Sounds about the same as Nikon to me. Don

I have recently found the SIGHTRONs2 3x9x42 scope and to my eyes they are at least as good as the same powr leupolds for less than half the price(from midways)

I gotta agree with Mikie (he eats anything) I would never part with my Loopies but I just bought a Nikon 4.5-14x40 mildot and I am now a Nikon fan also. Most excellent scope.
