Hi guys,I'm putting together a new Contender Carbine for a light weight carry gun for 'yotes.Finally found a 16 1/4" .223 Carbine barrel for it after looking for awhile.I've already got the zytel buttstock and forearm. So, now it's time to think about a scope for it.I had thought about an full size of some sort,but feel like I'd be defeating the purpose of building it light.I guess what I'm looking for is a compact with as large a field of vision as I can get.Also would like at least a 40mm objective.Maybe something in an 3x9,or 4x12 power range.Has anyone got anything like this already?Anyone have any suggestions?Thanks Wayne Johnson

My subcomact encore rifle (same idea as you) is sporting a leupold 3.5x10 tactical and I love it. I have pics in the rifle area.

Thanks for the reply BozoWise.I trying to go with a compact of some kind.A fullsize scope kind of defeats my purpose of a light weight carry carbine.I've got some health problems and just can't carry the heavy barrel rifles to far anymore.This is the first light weight I've put together,so it's a learning expierence for me.Later Lonestar

Hey Lonestar, You are going to get a lot of suggestions.... Mine is to call the folks at Bear Basin and visit with them. Their guys know optics and will give you good honest advice. Tell them what your set-up is, what your budget is, and what you are hunting. They will give you several good options. They carry all of the major scopes. Keep us posted! Bob www.bearbasin.com/ |

check out the new compact line from Burris they have a new 4-12x36 compact and it comes with the new ballistic plex. it is only 11 1/4 inches long and weighs 1 pound. less than $400.00.
